Solvionyx OS is a Debian 12 (Bookworm)-based Linux operating system built by Solviony, part of the Aurora Series. It ships with Solvy (a built-in AI assistant), the Solvionyx App Store, full-disk encryption support, and updates delivered through a standard apt repository -- no ISO reinstall required to stay current.

Yes. Solvionyx OS itself is free and open-source, licensed under the GPLv3 like the rest of its Debian base. A handful of optional online services -- Solviony ID, Solviony Cloud, Solvy's cloud AI provider, and Solviony Labs -- are part of the Solviony platform and proprietary to Solviony, but the OS installs and runs fully without signing up for any of them.

All three share the same underlying system and apt repository, just with a different desktop. Aurora (GNOME) is the modern, full-featured default. Aurora Lite (XFCE) is lightweight and fast, a good fit for older or lower-spec hardware. Aurora Studio (KDE) is aimed at creators, with a media and design tool suite included.

Download the ISO from the Solvionyx OS product page, flash it to a USB drive with Balena Etcher, Rufus, or dd, then boot from the USB. You can try Solvionyx OS live without installing, or run the Calamares installer for a permanent setup -- you'll be asked to accept the End User License Agreement, and you can optionally turn on full-disk encryption during partitioning. Important: when the installer finishes and asks you to restart, remove the USB drive first (or eject the ISO if you're installing in a virtual machine) -- otherwise the machine may boot back into the installer instead of your new system.

You can either download a Gaming Edition ISO, or add gaming support to any existing Solvionyx OS install by running `sudo apt install solvionyx-gaming`. Afterward, run `solvionyx-gaming-check` to confirm your graphics drivers and Vulkan setup are working correctly.

This has been fixed as of the latest Aurora release -- VMware Workstation/Fusion will now correctly auto-detect Solvionyx OS ISOs as Debian 12.x when you create a new VM. If you downloaded an older ISO and still see this message, either re-download the current release from the Solvionyx OS Download tab, or work around it by manually selecting Linux -> Debian 12.x (64-bit) as the guest OS type when creating the VM -- this doesn't affect how the OS runs.

This means the VM is booting from network or an empty virtual hard disk instead of the ISO -- it's a VM configuration issue, not a problem with the Solvionyx OS image. Check two things: (1) in the VM's settings, confirm the Solvionyx OS ISO is attached to the CD/DVD drive and "Connect at power on" is checked; and (2) make sure the CD/DVD drive is ordered above the network/PXE option in the boot order, or select it as a one-time boot device (usually Esc or F2 at VM startup) so it boots the ISO instead of trying PXE.

Since Solvionyx OS is a Debian derivative, selecting Debian 12.x (64-bit) as the guest OS type is the correct, fully supported choice, and the OS runs identically either way.

Yes -- Solvionyx OS runs in VMware, UTM, VirtualBox, and most other major hypervisors. For the best experience, allocate at least the recommended RAM and CPU, enable 3D acceleration if your hypervisor supports it, and install your hypervisor's guest tools after installing (for example, `sudo apt install open-vm-tools open-vm-tools-desktop` in VMware) for better display resizing and clipboard sharing between host and guest.
